Class Recording

Policy Statement

Students may not record classes (e.g., with a portable recording device, smartphone, etc.) without permission from the professor(s) in question, or the Office of the Dean of Students.

Please note that students who arrange to have a class recorded in lieu of attending class will still be considered absent from the class.

Classes may be recorded when approved by:

  • The Office of the Dean of Students, in the case of disability accommodations, religious holidays, and personal/family emergencies; and
  • The faculty member, at their discretion unless recording is approved pursuant to the Disability Accommodation for Students policy.

Class notes, materials, and recordings may be used for individual and group study purposes. Students may not disseminate, sell, publish, or distribute class recordings or class materials including, but not limited to, syllabi, lecture notes, assignments and exams, class notes, or presentation materials unless course policies expressly permit it.
