Students have the opportunity in this course to gain the essential skills, knowledge, and theories to advocate on behalf of clients effectively and responsibly. Through exploration of theories of persuasion and narrative, this course prepares students to be advocates in a variety of professional settings. For the purposes of this course, students are lawyers. Students watch and critique experienced lawyers perform in class and on homework videos. They observe classmates perform in small group exercises, and they assume the role of lawyer by preparing written work, performing skills, and exercising their own judgment.
