Career and Professional Development
A law degree opens doors to a wide variety of careers, within the legal industry and beyond. The Office of Career and Professional Development supports students and graduates as they explore careers, build their professional identity, identify experiential learning opportunities, and pursue career opportunities. Support is individualized and available to students regardless of location, including:
- One-on-one personal career advising.
- Introductions to mentors and other professional connections.
- Programming to help students explore practice areas and types of employers.
- On-Demand resources such as instructional written material and videos.
- Professional development programming, including such topics as professional identity development, giving and receiving feedback, and successful networking.
- Assistance developing career exploration documents such as resumes and cover letters.
- Guidance and support in finding experiential learning (paid and unpaid) and post-graduation career opportunities.
- Posting (electronically) and promoting job opportunities.
In addition to directly supporting students, the Career and Professional Development Office develops relationships with employers throughout the United States and beyond to:
- Identify job opportunities and inform employers of the quality of Mitchell Hamline students and graduates, and the education they receive.
- Engage employers with students and graduates through programming, career fairs, coordinated hiring programs, and job postings.
In addition to supporting the unique needs of students, The Office of Career and Professional Development also supports Mitchell Hamline alumni throughout the world who seek assistance with career transitions.
